What's on the Digital SAT

The Digital SAT has two sections: Reading & Writing (54 questions, 64 minutes) and Math (44 questions, 70 minutes) — 98 questions and 134 minutes of testing in all. Each section is split into two equal-length modules, and the test adapts between them: everyone starts with a mixed first module, and how you do on it decides whether your second module is the harder or easier variant. That matters for scoring, because the top score range runs through the harder second module.

Each section is scaled from 200 to 800, and the two scales add to your 400–1600 total. There is no penalty for guessing, every question counts the same within its module, and the pacing is fixed per section — you can move freely among questions inside a module but never back into a finished one. Any practice test that doesn't reproduce this module structure isn't really rehearsing the exam you'll sit.

The official practice problem

College Board's Bluebook app currently offers seven full-length official practice tests (Tests 4 through 10 — the earliest three were retired). They're the right place to start: real interface, real adaptive behavior, official scoring.

The problem is supply. A serious prep plan opens with a diagnostic, then runs a full-length test every week or two to track progress and train stamina. At that cadence the official tests are gone in about two months, often well before test day — and retaking one you've already seen inflates your score without telling you anything. Paper tests from old prep books don't fill the gap either: they use the pre-2024 format, with different section structures, different timing, and no adaptive second module. Once Bluebook runs dry, most students are left practicing on material that no longer matches the exam.

How Crimsora practice tests work

Every Crimsora Digital SAT course includes unlimited full-length mocks in a test-day-style player: per-section countdown timers, a question palette with mark-for-review, an answer eliminator, and the calculator and reference sheet exactly where the real exam allows them. The second module of each section is genuinely adaptive — your first-module performance decides which variant you get, just like the real test.

Scoring follows test-day conventions: raw performance in each section converts through curves modeled on released official practice scoring, producing section scores of 200–800 and a 400–1600 total. Then the part no official test gives you: the score report breaks your misses down by concept, and the AI voice tutor can take any missed question and reteach the underlying skill in a live session — so a practice test ends with a study plan, not just a number.

How to use practice tests in your prep

Start with one full-length test as a diagnostic before any content review — it tells you where the points are and sets your baseline. Then alternate: focused lessons on your weakest concepts for a week or two, then another full-length to measure whether the work moved the score.

Take every mock under test conditions: one sitting, timed sections, the same ten-minute break the real exam gives you. Stamina is a skill; a 134-minute test feels different from two 67-minute halves. And treat the review as the point of the exercise — an hour spent understanding ten missed questions raises your score more than a fresh test taken cold. In the final two weeks before test day, taper to one full-length and spend the rest of your time reviewing, so you arrive rested and pattern-sharp rather than burned out.

Frequently asked questions

How many Digital SAT practice tests do I get?
As many as you want to take — mocks are included with the Crimsora Digital SAT course, with no per-test limit. That's designed to pick up where the seven official Bluebook practice tests leave off, so weekly full-lengths stay possible all the way to test day.
Is the mock adaptive like the real Digital SAT?
Yes. Each section runs two modules, and your first-module performance decides whether the second is the harder or easier variant — the same two-stage structure as the real exam, with the same 98-question, 134-minute shape.
How accurate is the score?
Section curves are modeled on released official practice scoring, so your 400–1600 result lands in a realistic band. Treat any practice score — official or otherwise — as an estimate with a margin of a few dozen points, and watch the trend across tests rather than a single number.
Can I try Crimsora free?
Yes — start a free trial lesson with the AI tutor, no signup required. Full-length practice tests are part of the Digital SAT course membership.
